about me

I'm Bree (pronouns: she/her). I live in Melbourne CBD with my son, Ari. Some years ago I was finishing my psychology degree and wondering what I was going to be when I grew up, when fate stepped in to throw me a curve ball. Nine months later I welcomed my surprise baby into the world, and I decided that the time was right to act on a secret dream I had held since I first set up a film darkroom in my backyard over 20 years earlier; to pursue a career in photography.

The past descade has been the craziest and most rewarding of my life. Simultaneously tackling the two huge learning curves of new parenthood and opening a small business would have seemed impossible to me pre-baby, but motherhood gave me a confidence I had never had before. I'm not sure I would have ever had the guts to open my business were it not for the perfect storm of joy, hormones, and exhausted delirium that comes with new parenthood. You created a human, and you're keeping him alive, anything's possible!

In my spare time you'll find me riding my bike, op-shopping, obsessing over interior design blogs, and hanging out with my awesome bunch of supportive friends. I also spend a considerable amount of time looking at vintage art on eBay, and adding songs to my Spotify playlist Bree’s Elevator Music, an exhaustive list of the best cover songs I’ve found.

WHAT I DO

I'm a commercial portrait photographer and I work with creative people and progressive organisations to create beautiful, custom imagery for websites, social media, and marketing collateral. I love to service organisations who work in the not-for-profit, community, social justice space, particularly those who are working to better the lives of women and children.

I’m available for headshots, team headshots, environmental portraits, interesting events, and other custom imagery. I often work out of my beautiful, light-filled studio at The Nicholas Building, Level 7, Suite 16, 37 Swanston Street, Melbourne CBD, but am also happy to shoot on location. Please note; I’m typically booked out at least one month in advance. You can check out the dates I have available here.

I have photographed thousands of people over the past decade. I’m experienced, adaptable, and customer-service-focused. I have a current Working With Children Check, and I’m fully vaccinated including covid-19 vaccination. I have comprehensive public liability insurance. I have a psychology degree, and a certificate iv in Disability and worked as a disability support worker for a decade. I’m a proud feminist, I’m all about inclusivity, and love working with people from all walks of life.
